SF6 Decomposition Detection Device 3-032-R003
Description
Decomposition products which are produced by an arc in the SF6 can be determined in parts per million by volume from 1 to 18 ppm with the measuring device for decomposition products 3-032-R001. By sampling a given volume of SF6, at a given pressure and rate, a change in the test tube color indicates the presence (and quantity) of decomposition products in the test gas. The test chamber is filled with a sample of the gas to be tested, to a pressure of approximately 29 psi. The pressure is indicated by a built-in pressure gauge. Once the test chamber has been pressurized, a test tube is inserted into the exhaust port of the test chamber. When the exhaust valve is opened, and the test gas passes throughout the tube, a distinct change of color within the tube can be observed (if there is decomposition present). The gas flow is stopped once the pressure within the test chamber reaches approx. 15 psig. By reading the graduated marks on the tube, the operator can determine exactly how much decomposition is present within the sampled gas.
